In 2019, ISPI will embark on twelve months focus on the bright future of evidence-based
technology and techniques that help build the skills of performance improvement practitioners.
ISPI is a professional home to those that seek to improve the performance of work, workers and
the world around us. Technology is changing every aspect of work, how workers will accomplish
work, what work looks like and is becoming.
We will look at two facets of technology and the future together this coming year. 1) How will
technology enhance our role as Performance Improvement professionals? 2) How can we help
clients analyze new technology
and adapt to the changes technology is bringing to the
workplace and the workers at a pace the world is demanding?
Through our conferences and educational offerings, we will explore the technology and
techniques that will strengthen Performance Improvement consultant’s tool box. We will also
seek future focused articles and stories for our publications.
ISPI is made up of consultants, students, researchers, writers, practitioners and trainers who
seek to understand how to help their clients make effective changes. Understanding evidence-
based methods to analyze and adapt technology for performance improvement will be a
necessary skill needed by all performance professionals. Being aware of where technology is
headed and the research surrounding what works well and when is key to building our skills.
Keynote presenters will explore significant developments in the field of performance
improvement and offer insights into the future of our profession. Professional development
sessions will highlight diverse thought leaders in two educational tracks: 1) Technology and the
Future of Work and 2) The Pace of Change and Performance Improvement. The first topic
the technologies that are having impacts on performance improvement that range
from tools to assist with performance analysis, root cause analysis, intervention
recommendations and selection, and evaluation and change management. The second topic
introduces attendees to science and impact of change management and how to change
behaviors, engaging clients, promote change, and lead organizations through changes with
evidence from the fields evolutionary theory, anthropology, neurophysiology, philosophy,
linguistics, and psychology. As always, we will have our Tried and True Practices track for
opportunity to share and build upon the fundamental elements of performance improvement.
Finally, ISPI’s Regional Symposiums represent a unique partnership with academia by
collaborating and hosting the event on a university campus. Performance improvement has
always been and will always be an evidence-based practice, and ISPI’s roots run deep with the
academic communities that provide that evidence. The opportunity to hold the symposium at a
university only bolsters that relationship and highlights ISPI’s desire to build a stronger
connection with researchers and students. Likewise, the university gains broader exposure for
its programs, facilities, staff, and student, which creates greater opportunities for community
and professional engagement and collaboration.
We hope you will join us for the ISPI 2019 Fall Symposium.
