ISPI’s Annual Conference would not be possible without the support of our Conference Committee, who devote their energy, creativity, and time to make the Conference a success.

Mark Boccia – Conference Co-Chair

Dr. Mark Boccia, is the global head of learning and talent development at Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd., based in Miami, FL. Mark has an exceptional record of success reinventing the business of learning in large organizations and designing innovative learning solutions for diverse audiences within the hospitality industry. Mark joined ISPI in 2008 and served on a number of committees spanning nominations, education, and now co-chair of the annual conference.

Brett Christensen - Conference Co-Chair

Brett D. Christensen MMM, CD, MSc, CPT, CTDP loves acronyms and is driven by the mission to help you resolve the workplace performance problems that keep you up at night. A veteran, with 30 years service in the Canadian Navy, he is now the President of Workplace Performance Consulting and an adjunct graduate professor at Boise State University, where he helps others learn how to help you! Brett is also a member of the Institute for Performance and Learning and writes for PerformanceXpress, the Performance Improvement Journal and eLearn Magazine.

Scott Casad – ISPI Board President

Scott Casad, CPT, PhD serves as a Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard where he is the Chief of Training at Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown. Originally a resident of Oregon, he graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in marine environmental science. After six years of operational assignments, he landed an instructor position and found his passion for performance technology, which led to Master's degrees from Old Dominion University and Boise State University. Over the past 12 years, his experiences range from schoolhouse instructional designer to performance consultant for major acquisitions to headquarters training manager of operational and mission support programs. Scott holds a Doctorate from Old Dominion University in organizational learning and development. His dissertation explored the role and effect of elementary teacher psychology capital on turnover, work roles, stress, commitment, and satisfaction.

Tim Brock – Award of Excellence Chair

Timothy Brock earned his PhD in training and performance improvement from Capella University. He is a frequent presenter at ISPI and other international conferences. Tim serves on multiple ISPI committees and is the founding president of the Central Florida Chapter. The Performance Improvement journal published his article, "Performance Analytics: The Missing Big Data Link Between Learning Analytics and Business Analytics." Tim serves on the faculty of the UN System Staff College at Turin, Italy.

Sue Czeropski PhD, CPT– Education Chair

CLO Performance Instruction LLC

Sue is an accomplished Learning & Development Executive with more than 15 years’ experience improving business performance, strengthening organizational capabilities and leveraging best practices across organizations. Currently, Sue is the CLO of Performance Instruction LLC, where she uses her unique combination of e-Learning, education, management, training, and organizational development expertise driving transformative change in organizations. Sue is an active volunteer in ISPI. This year she served as the Education Chair for ISPI 2018 Conference, is a CPT reviewer and works to support the ISPI Bay Area Boise State University Chapter.

Frank Fu – Foreign Language Track Representative

Frank Q. Fu, CPT, PhD is an associate professor of marketing at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. He has published articles in major marketing and performance improvement journals and presented at national and international academic conferences. He serves as a CPT reviewer, volunteers for the ISPI Award Committee, and promotes HPT and ISPI in China.

Leanne Jensen – Community Service Project Representative

Leanne Jensen is a process coach with the Operational Excellence organization at The Boeing Company. Her 15+ years in engineering and operations focused on performance improvement has helped her develop a system-based approach to performance improvement. Leanne has spoken at several conferences including ISPI, Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers, and Society of Women Engineers. She holds degrees in engineering, instructional design (training and performance improvement) and is currently pursuing her PhD in performance improvement.

Stephanie Johnson – Marketing Chair

Stephanie Johnson, PhD is the National Dealer Training Manager for PACCAR Parts currently working with Peterbilt / Kenworth dealers and TRP Store staff to help them capture maximum sales in the aftermarket parts segment.

Stephanie has worked within several sectors to include banking, education, defense, automotive, manufacturing, and civil service. She was instrumental in developing the certification for Field Service Representatives supporting the Stryker Program for the US Army and USMC. She also developed technical and soft-skill training for the Global Excellence program supporting eight (8) plants worldwide in the manufacture of plastics for SABIC Innovative Plastics.

Stephanie won a Brandon Hall Silver Award for Multimedia Design as a project team lead and is currently in the process of recertifying as a Certified Performance Technologist (CPT). She has volunteered in various positions with ISPI since 2003, to include supporting three international conferences (2005, 2006, 2018).

Stephanie holds a PhD in Instructional Technology from Wayne State University.

Nancy Burns – Board Liaison

Nancy Crain Burns, CPT, PhD, MBA, PMP, CAEL, is the founder/president of Crain Burns Associates LLC. As a Certified Performance Technologist, she leads individuals, teams and organizations through strategies, identifying opportunities that achieve effective solutions. Her dissertation research connected aspects of leadership, communication and influence styles that enhance self-reflection and collaboration with others. Nancy joined ISPI (International Society and Michigan Chapter) in 2003. She served as VP pf Programs in Michigan, CPT Chair/President of the Capella University Chapter and Program Chair/Society Liaison of the Tennessee Chapter. She is a CPT Reviewer for the international organization. As ISPI Director, she serves as a liaison to the Chapter Partnership Committee and collaborates with the Finance/Marketing Director, as well as other Board members.

Coretta Ross – Education Coordinator

Coretta obtained a Master’s degree and a certification in Project Management and Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College. Currently, she teaches Child Development Associate classes at the University of the District of Columbia.

Courtney Brooks Kamin – Executive Director

Courtney brings over a decade of experience in operations and program management in the non-profit and higher education sectors. Courtney joined ISPI in 2014 as the Chapter and Program Manager, and in 2016, she stepped into the role as Operations Manager. Prior to ISPI, Courtney worked in the field of violence prevention as an advocate, trainer, and policy advisor on state, national, and global issues. She still works independently with colleges and universities to provide federal mandated training as well as evaluating policy and training for faculty and staff on best practices. Courtney is a doctoral candidate in Sociology at the University of Kentucky with a Master’s degree from East Tennessee State University. Her research focuses on the intersections of violence, mechanisms of resistance, and reclamation of identity.
