DEVELOPING SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT FACILITATORS

The LAUNCH!™ Learning and Performance Series

Our LAUNCH!™ Learning and Performance Series is an intensive, year-long, job-embedded development program aligned to the validated Certified School Improvement Specialist standards.  Our performance-based approaches develop school and district leaders, academic coaches and other state and local school improvement facilitators to facilitate sustainable, systemic school improvement. Participants participate in learning communities with peer and coach support.

LAUNCH! engages participants, using their schools’ performance data and focusing on their unique challenges guiding school turnaround and transformation. This intensive ten-part Experience is based on the national Certified School Improvement Specialist™ standards. Cohorts are offered for school districts, regional groups and state education agencies.

 

The LAUNCH!™ Learning and Performance Series:

The LAUNCH!™ National Development Cohort Starting Spring 2019

The Institute for Performance Improvement in collaboration with the International Society for Performance Improvement, will accept 30 participants in its national, intensive LAUNCH!™ development program over a one-year period. This performance-based program develops school improvement practitioners to facilitate a proven school improvement process, that is systemic, practical and sustainable. Successful completers of this rigorous program receive a globally verifiable digital badge for their demonstration of proficiency in practice of the ten Certified School Improvement Specialist standards.  Participants work on their real work in schools guiding school improvement through-out the program. Participants will:

  • Participate in a blended development program, participating in live classes, virtual sessions, peer-to-peer learning, and coaching of job-embedded assignments with assessment.
  • Participate in learning, peer-to-peer coaching, and assignments in the Promote Learning and Performance platform.
  • Complete assignments which demonstrate proficiency in practice in the work of the CSIS standards.
  • Review their assignments and evidence of proficient practice with their supervisors for review, support and approval.

Applicants Considered:

  • State, regional and local education agency staff engaged in school improvement
  • Principals, assistant principals, school leadership team members and academic coaches
  • Staff of non-profit and for-profit school improvement providers

The cost of this one-year program is $5995 per person, plus any related travel costs and purchase of the course guide, the School Improvement Specialist Field Guide, available from Corwin Press.

2019-2020 Schedule

The schedule for the program includes an online orientation.

Online orientation: Choose from March 20 or 27 -- 2:00 to 3:00 pm EST

2.5 days of live development in the Atlanta, GA area – June 24-26, 2019 with emphasis on analysis, engagement and choosing and vetting solutions and initiatives.

2.5 days of live development in the Atlanta area – September 25-27, 2019 with emphasis on planning and management of school improvement initiatives.

2.5 days of live development in the Atlanta area – January 22 – 24, 2019 with emphasis on implementation, monitoring and sustainability.

The remainder of the program is provided online via the Promote Learning and Development Platform through the course of the school year, ending in June 2019. Learning and performance is coached and assessed via the Promote Learning and Development Platform. Successful participants receive a verifiable digital badge reflecting their proficiency in practice.

The LAUNCH! Learning and Performance Experience is provided for groups of a minimum size of 25 through a district-sponsored cohort, a multi-district cohort sponsored by a regional education support agency, or through a state department of education supported cohort. Title funds and ESSA funds can be applied to participant tuition.

Participants’ supervisors attend alongside their participants. The Institute develops these individuals to support, supervise and assess participants’ transfer of learning to on-the-job practice and results. Supervisor participation under education agency Memorandums of Agreement ensure participants’ learning and on-the-job practice is “expected and inspected”. Successful program completion earns a micro-credential, a verifiable digital badge, proving proficiency.
