|Outdated business practices, teams that operated in silos, and a lack of process ownership contributed to an unwelcoming first impression for new faculty joining the University of North Texas.
From personal experience, this presentation covers an example of our hiring cycle, the issues that were constant, and those that began compounding one another. Due to a lack of visibility in our process, we were unable to see when issues were occurring and address the root of the problems.
A third-party collaboration, Toyota Production System Support Center (TSSC), was brought in to change the university mindset, “this is how things have always been,” then introduce an innovative problem-solving process.
The goal was to streamline the new faculty onboarding experience and provide a seamless transition, reduce delay issues related to onboarding, and provide a customer focused approach to the overall process.
Brandi Renton serves as Associate Vice President for Administrative Services for the University of North Texas, leading a team that focuses on business process analysis and other vital administrative and operational services to campus.
Scott Porter is a senior manager with TSSC (The Toyota Production System Support Center) at Toyota Motor North America, Inc. (TMNA), located in Plano, Texas.
