Why an Academic Committee, you ask?

Universities are the breeding grounds for the next generation of performance improvement (P.I.) superstars! This is where research and evidence-based practices are born, fueling the future of our field. Our goal is to contribute, sustain, and grow our field.

Remember the case competition – a cornerstone of the ISPI Conference? That was built on the brilliant minds of university talent!

Here is why we have an academic committee:

  1. To empower future P.I. leaders: We’ll be nurturing the next generation of performance champions, ensuring they’re equipped to tackle real-world challenges.
  2. To fuel research and innovation: Get ready for cutting-edge research and evidence-based practices that will shape the future of P.I.
  3. To build a vibrant community: We’ll be fostering connections and building relationships between students, universities, and industry professionals, creating a powerful network for collaboration and learning.
  4. To drive, engage, and disseminate research to promote understanding, growth, and acceptance of the field across academia and business
  5. To build an active community of practice that contributes, shapes, and informs research and practice through an accurate and comprehensive understanding of the field and the impact of emerging trends. 

 

2024-25 Academic Committee’s Goals:

  • Bring the case competition study to the 2025 Conference
    • Bring in four universities to participate in the case study competition
  • Bring in three universities as Corporate members in 2025
  • Publish six university articles in PIQ; PIJ
  • Promote and bring in four candidates for the dissertation award and the outstanding research award for the 2025 conference.
    • The outstanding research award covers the Master’s program and Dissertation programs.

 

Our Team

 Dr. Sue Czeropski, CPT, has taken the lead for the Academic CommitteeDr. Czeropski is a Learning and development leader with 40+ years of experience driving business results through innovative learning solutions. Her expertise spans eLearning, training, and organizational development, making her a champion for transformative change. A certified performance technologist, Dr. Czeropski has a passion for empowering organizations through learning across industries.
 Dr. Ria Roy MBA, MSHFID, M.S., has taken the lead for the Research and Publications Subcommittee. She is the Clinical Assistant Professor at Boise State University. Her experiences have been in areas of strategy and commercialization, setting up SBUs, knowledge management systems, commercial analytics and decision support, new product planning, and consulting. Her research interests lie in the development of the field of P.I., organization design, innovation, and the future of work.
 Dr. Rose Baker will be working on the Publications Subcommittee. Rose is an Assistant Professor of Learning Technologies at UNT, researching open learning, performance improvement, and game design. With a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems and certifications in project management, she leverages diverse expertise to enhance learning experiences. Dr. Baker actively contributes to the field as an associate editor and conference presenter.
 Dr. Deri Draper Amason has taken the lead for the Case Study Competition Subcommittee and brings a unique approach to performance improvement, using maturity models to gauge training readiness. Her extensive knowledge of instructional systems technology allows her to craft and evaluate educational programs that significantly boost effectiveness and readiness in organizational environments.
 Dr. Holley Handley will be working on the Case Study Competition Subcommittee. She is the coordinator for the University of West Florida’s Instructional and Performance Technology EdD program, drawing on diverse prior experience in education. Her passion lies in applying Performance Improvement, P.I., principles to enhance learning and performance across various settings. Her research explores integrating P.I. into academic programs to strengthen student outcomes.
 Dr. John Turner will be working on the Research/Publications Subcommittee. He is a former ABB engineer who brings real-world experience to UNT’s College of Information. He co-created The Flow System methodology and authored influential books on agility and lean thinking. Editor of Performance Improvement Quarterly, his research focuses on leadership, decision-making, and team effectiveness.
 Kasi Guillot will be leading the Subcommittee to drive Academic/Corporate Organizational Membership. She currently serves as the Chief Analytics Officer and LLC Partner for Central Creativity. She has a Master of Education in Instructional Technology with a specialization in Human Performance Technology from the University of West Florida and a current doctoral candidate at Franklin University. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, her focus involves utilizing technology to drive performance improvement to address performance and organizational issues in education programs.
