ISPI Award Description

The ISPI Awards of Excellence (AOE) Program features three distinguished award categories: the Outstanding Human Performance Intervention (HPI) Award, the Outstanding Human Performance Communication (HPC) Award, and the Artificial Intelligence for Performance Improvement (AI4PI) Award.

The AI4PI (Artificial Intelligence for Performance Improvement) Award is a distinct recognition that honors cutting-edge projects and initiatives leveraging artificial intelligence to achieve significant advancements in human performance and organizational success.

What Qualifies

Projects that leverage AI as a core driver of human performance improvement.
Solutions where AI is integrated creatively and effectively—not as an add-on, but as a fundamental component of the intervention.
Initiatives demonstrating measurable, sustainable outcomes through human-AI collaboration.
Efforts that reflect the intersection of AI and performance improvement (PI) disciplines.

What Does Not Qualify

Traditional performance improvement projects that do not include strategic AI integration.
Projects where AI is used superficially or simply as a tool without strategic integration into the performance solution.

Application Process

This award follows a common application process:

Download and complete the application proposal. (If the proposal link doesn’t open in Chrome, please try using Firefox, Safari, or Edge instead.)
Click the “Apply Now” button to enter your contact information, upload the proposal, and submit the application. Your proposal must be a single Word or PDF file (not password-protected or in portfolio format).

Qualifying Criteria

The Applicant or Nominee must be either a Gold Level Member or an Advocate Member of ISPI.

To qualify, the project or initiative must meet the following criteria:

Designed and substantially produced by the submitting individual, organization/team.
Implemented and the outcomes measured within the three years preceding the award deadline.
Include a clear description or supporting documentation of each step in the systematic approach used to develop the intervention.
Include documentation of measured results in the form of cost versus return or other comparative data related to input versus output and measurable positive changes.
Addressed all the outlined criteria listed in the applicant proposal.
Application received by the deadline.

Distinguishing Criteria

The AI4PI Award will be evaluated based on the ISPI’s AI4PI framework. Your submission will be assessed across the following four sections:

Section 1: Alignment with AI4PI Principles
Section 2: Application of AI4PI Process Steps #1–5
Section 3: Application of AI4PI Process Step #6
Section 4: Scalability and Replicability

Each section will receive a qualitative rating—EXCELS, MEETS, or BELOW—based on overall strength, clarity, and alignment.
